About nomination reviews

If you nominate a place or object for the Victorian Heritage Register and Heritage Victoria’s Executive Director refuses to accept your nomination, you can ask the Heritage Council to review the decision.

This is called a nomination review.

Requesting a review

You must submit your review request in writing through the HCV Hub. This must be done within 28 days of the Executive Director’s decision.

How we conduct a nomination review

We appoint a committee of at least three Heritage Council members to conduct the review.

Nomination review protocol

Heritage Council Protocol 3 - Nomination reviews provides detailed information about the nomination review process. It covers the key steps and timeframes, and roles and responsibilities in the process.
